Background
& Experience
In November 2003, I was elected to a four-year term in the At-Large seat on the
Albemarle County School Board. I
was re-elected to a second term in 2007. In
this position, I represent all of Albemarle County, Virginia as one of seven
elected School Board members.
I have lived in the Charlottesville area since August 1984
and I am a graduate of
the University of Virginia (Col 90). I am currently Executive Director of
Charlottesville Tomorrow, a
non-partisan community organization informing the public and policy related to
land use, transportation and community design. During 1998-2005 I served as the Chief Information
Officer at SNL
Financial on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall. Before joining SNL I worked
at the W. Alton Jones Foundation from
1990-1997. My wife Jean and I were married in 1990 and over the years we have lived in Crozet, Troy,
the Fieldbrook subdivision and now in Langford Farms near Ivy, Virginia.
During 2007-2008, I have two children in Albemarle County Schools, a daughter in
tenth grade at Western Albemarle High School and a son in sixth grade at Henley
Middle School.

* What is PREP?
The Piedmont Regional Education Program (PREP) was
established in 1975 as a regional program for special education
services. Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) participate as
one of eleven school systems in PREP. The mission of PREP is to
assist the local school divisions in providing a high quality
special educational program for students with disabilities. This
regional approach is more cost-effective than what ACPS could
deliver if fully managing its own special education programs.
Over 1,100 students are receiving services from PREP in the
2005-2006 school year.
